It's Beginning...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Turkey Day is over and we spent the early afternoon in the yard putting up Christmas lights.  We ran out of strands (doesn't that always happen)  so will have to finish tomorrow after a trip to the store.  I refused to go to a big box store today.   Call me chicken,  but I didn't want to fight the crowds.

Downtown Oklahoma City has come alive with the Christmas Spirit!  There is so much to do in the city this season that we thought we would take advantage of the  beautiful 70 degree afternoon.  We headed downtown to the Myriad Botanical Gardens and Conservatory before dinner.

Located in the heart of the city the gardens now include an ice skating rink, carousel and delightful little pop up shops for holiday shoppers.  There is something for everyone!

The Conservatory is full of tropical plants, waterfalls and butterflies.    My favorite is the centerpiece Christmas tree made of poinsettias-what could be more beautiful?

Red and pink amaryllis are blooming throughout the conservatory and I just love how beautiful they are!

A living wreath

 and more gorgeous poinsettias
line the walkways!

My youngest son made a video of our visit...enjoy!

  3. Beautiful photos...I enjoyed your son's video, he did a great job.
The poinsettia tree is gorgeous as are all the ones along the walkway. I wish I could keep them alive, but they die within hours of bringing them into my house!
    Have a great week, Sonia.

  8. Oh my word! What a lovely place to spend an afternoon. Your photos are wonderful and thank you for sharing your day with us. It is just what I needed. Outside my back porch is covered in ice and my ice melt is in the garage. I'm trying to muster up enough courage to venture out and fill a bucket to put in the mud room. This old gal doesn't want a "Slip & Fall" for Christmas. If you can, please send me a little bit of that 70 degree weather, LOL.
Have a happy and fun filled weekend.
