Mother's Day Garden

I strive to have all my annuals planted by the end of April to middle of May.  The weather has been so much cooler this spring and we have had more rain than usual so it's taken me a little longer to get everything in the ground.    Hopefully weather permitting I'll get my front border spring plantings done by the end of the week.

Our newest flower bed was planted last spring and I love how it has filled in and all the color.  Most of the bed is planted in perennials and small shrubs with some begonias and violas for annual color.

My favorite plants have become the coral bells with all the  different foilage color and blooms.  They have done so well in last summer's heat and the arctic blast we had in January.

I planted up my wire flower baskets with pink impatiens and begonias as they are mostly in the shade.

My hubbie and sons always give me gift cards or flowers for Mother's Day which I love! My garden is my gift to myself and they enjoy it too!  This year a cobalt blue birdbath was my gift.

Hope you are having a wonderful and Happy Mother's Day!

  2. Hi Sonia, Your gardens are looking so wonderfully colorful already! We're still waiting to plant annuals here too -- so I'm extra glad yours can already be enjoyed. And that birdbath is such a magnificently intense blue color -- Majorelle Blue, I think that's sometimes called, after the famous garden of that name in Morocco. Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden scenes with us! Best, -Beth

  4. You have a beautiful garden and beautiful blooms. In my town, to day it rain a lot. Of biggers thunderstorms not really good for my flowers especially for the peonies. Have a good week in your garden. Pascal in France.

  6. The border looks beautiful!

I was so sad to read about your dog, 16 was a good long life, making it all that much more sad goodbye. The joy they give us is well worth the pain, but try telling your heart that when sobbing so hard... I hope you welcome a new dog or two soon, its the only way to put aside the pain as you welcome joy back in your life.
