This Memorial Day weekend I'm joining Beverly's Pink Saturday. My garden is usually full of pinks but after the recent hail storm it is still recovering. These pink knockout roses were in full bloom prior to our storms.
These hot pink peonies had just about finished blooming for the season.
The hail shredded the leaves off the trees, shrubs and pounded my newly planted annuals literally into the ground.
My son is holding almost baseball sized hail..the hail was larger than this when it fell and by the time we went outside had began to melt. There were up to softball sized as well.
We have spent many hours cleaning up the mess and I'm just now starting to replant a few things. While I was outside cleaning up my hydrangeas I got a pleasant surprise...
Mr. T (our resident turtle) came walking out of some branches and leaves that had been knocked to the ground. I was so thrilled...we don't keep him caged or penned up..so we never know when we will see him. I needed a positive lift as I was a little down from having to clean up so much damage to my garden...and out came Mr T!! I haven't seen him since last fall...I guess he hibernates.
I was reminded of God's care and concern for us...how much more does he care and love us than this little turtle that he placed in my path...and yet Mr T survived the storm and harsh winter. He knew I needed a special reminder and it just made
my day!
There's always a silver lining to any of life's storms we face. Sometimes we just have to rejoice
in the small things!
Hope you have a wonderful Pink Saturday and Memorial Weekend!
When we lived in Texas, we had a storm with hail that was huge! All the children were very small and I was expecting when that storm hit....it broke all the windows on one side of the house and roof was shredded in places...Water came in and it was a horrible mess! I was so thankful we had a garage for the vehicles!
ReplyDeleteYour roses still are pretty and I hope your yard recovers from the beating it took!
Happy Pink Saturday!

Hello sweet friend...
ReplyDeleteOhhh my goodness, Sonia...I'm so glad that ya'll are okay! I have never seen hail that big...I can only imagine the damage that it causes! I'm so sorry! Just before coming to Colorado, my honey said that they had really bad hail...baseball sized. It knocked out all of the window in the front of our house. I guess that everyone ended up replacing roofs too! Dangerous stuff! I'm just so glad to hear that you and your family are all okay, Girlfriend! The trees and plants will grow again...and yes, God is so good!!! I think that Mr. T was a perfect reminder of that!!! Thanks for sharing that sweet story with us!
Well dear friend, you take care and I'll talk with you later!
Love ya,
Chari @Happy To Design
I love your turtle. How fun to spot him here and there. Sorry about your hail.

Glad Mr. T survived and is back in view. I can empathize with you. A huge hail storm destroyed our garden, roof, windows, etc. two years ago. The large oaks and elms are just now beginning to recover. They were complete stripped of all their leaves. Hope you garden recovers quickly.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific weekend. ~ Sarah
I heard about your hail storm! Unbelievable! Don't you just love knockout roses!?! Guess that hail really knocked 'em out alright. Sheesh! And your peonies are fabulous! Happy Pink Party Day!

ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday, Sonia. We've been pinking together for over a year now. Thank you for everything you do to make Pink Saturday special.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the birthday wishes.
I am so saddened by the damage from the hail. I am glad that you are safe, and that Mr. T came out to cheer you.
I'm sorry about the hail damage. Wow, I lived in a place where it used to hail like that. Dang.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for the belated Pink Saturday visit! I realize I'm two days late (and a dollar short, haha!) but there are so many pinks and so little time over this holiday weekend when relatives are visiting! Happy Belated PS!
