Christmas Eve

I can't believe Christmas Eve is here and we just finished opening presents and enjoying our candlelight dinner.

Just sat down for a minute to share my Christmas table centerpiece.

Merry Christmas and I'll see you next year!

Tartan and Tea

I've been out doing some Christmas shopping with my besties and last week I found a beautiful teapot.  I've actually been looking for this one for a couple years and was so happy to find it at Home Goods and for less than $10.

Two matching mugs found their way home too.  My hubbie and I love tea and before Christmas I wanted to share my little tea tray.

Tartan and tea is a perfect combination on this
 cold wintery day!

Merry Christmas and Happy  New Years!

More Merry Christmas

Oklahoma City has quite a light display downtown in and around the Myriad Gardens.  The city opened the conservatory for viewing of the lights at night with free admission on certain evenings.

Sunday evening we enjoyed the strolling through the gardens and the  feeling the excitement of the season.

Christmas lights bring out the kid in me!
Hope you are enjoying this blessed season.

Merry Christmas!

Enjoy the season of Christmas with those you love...I'll be headed down to the sunshine state after Christmas to ring in the New Year with our  family.
Safe travels everyone!

It's Beginning...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Turkey Day is over and we spent the early afternoon in the yard putting up Christmas lights.  We ran out of strands (doesn't that always happen)  so will have to finish tomorrow after a trip to the store.  I refused to go to a big box store today.   Call me chicken,  but I didn't want to fight the crowds.

Downtown Oklahoma City has come alive with the Christmas Spirit!  There is so much to do in the city this season that we thought we would take advantage of the  beautiful 70 degree afternoon.  We headed downtown to the Myriad Botanical Gardens and Conservatory before dinner.

Located in the heart of the city the gardens now include an ice skating rink, carousel and delightful little pop up shops for holiday shoppers.  There is something for everyone!

The Conservatory is full of tropical plants, waterfalls and butterflies.    My favorite is the centerpiece Christmas tree made of poinsettias-what could be more beautiful?

Red and pink amaryllis are blooming throughout the conservatory and I just love how beautiful they are!

A living wreath

 and more gorgeous poinsettias
line the walkways!

My youngest son made a video of our visit...enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving

Our turkey is in the oven and I'm just waiting to finish everything before we dig in!

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Centerpieces

I didn't get much done in the way of Christmas decorating yesterday,  but I did get all my Thanksgiving
shopping done so I won't have to fight
the crowds today or tomorrow.

I'm hoping to get things prepped tomorrow so
Turkey Day will be easier and I won't be so exhausted by dinnertime.

This morning I made my Thanksgiving centerpieces
from grocery store flowers.  I love how inexpensive and easy they are to make.  I made three small bouquets for less than the price of one florist arrangement and since they are mostly
mums they will last a long time.

Tomorrow I'll set the table and get the turkey brinned.
I just love the holiday season!

Sunday Side Table

In keeping with my goal of really decking out the halls this year, I'm trying to decorate one area each day until I "get finished"-
whatever that means!

Today I only got my side table decorated and used my favorite runner.   I did do some shopping today and I've go a rib roast in the oven for my guys.  I still need to set the table, so I'm decorating in small bites this year.     I'm glad to get another little area done although I will probably tweak it a few more times.

Are you a tweaker or do you just place things once?

Early Start

I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet but since it seems late this year I thought I better get an early start.  I'm even going to try and put up two trees this year...something I haven't done in the past few years because we have spent Christmas in Florida.

It will be nice to celebrate the season at home so I'm going
to really deck the halls this year!

Enjoy your weekend.

Let it Snow!

The first snow has arrived and the weathermen are predicting one to three inches.
The only thing that is
blooming now is my cyclamen.

I'm thankful for a warm home to enjoy the first snowfall from my kitchen window.

I've cooked a pot of gumbo and my hubbie is making kale soup.  I love snowdays!

Stay warm!

Serendipity!

Last week we were enjoying the perfect fall weather in our backyard.   My flowers were all blooming again and the leaves were starting to turn.  The wind was calm and the temperature was perfect and then it happened...

Serendipity in our own backyard...
I love when that happens!

Enjoy your weekend!

Chihuly and the Denver Botanical Gardens

We love visiting Colorado when it's scorching hot here in Oklahoma.  Breckenridge is one of our favorite places to spend our vacations for many reasons.
I adore all the flowers throughout town.   The hanging baskets are the prettiest!

While we were there we took a day trip and revisited
the  Denver Botanical Gardens
 to see the Chihuly Exhibits.
Breathtaking displays might be an understatement!

Obviously they don't have to worry about hail like we do in Oklahoma because the exhibits are outside and located
throughout the gardens.

It would be hard to pick a favorite exhibit but I think the glass displays in the water had to be the
most impressive and my favorite.

I'll be quiet and just let you enjoy a
"walk" through the gardens.

If you are in the Denver area you really should put the Botanical Gardens on your places to visit!
