Gruene, Texas

Last month our Texas trip took us back to familiar places but we  also "discovered" a new favorite place to visit.  The little historic district of Gruene  (pronounced Green) was a fun place to shop, dine and just spend a leisurely day!  It's located within New Braunfels, Texas between
 Austin and San Antonio.

The Gruene Mansion Inn was striking with the wrap around porch and beautiful grounds.  Had I known about this place ahead of time we would have stayed there.

Oh well, there's always next time!

What a delightful little place to spend the day!
We walked along the tree lined streets and enjoyed the flower displays in front of the historic
 gift and antique shops.

We had a lovely lunch at the Gristmill which I highly recommend!
The food is great and in fact it was voted one of the best family dining experiences in the country
and I'd have to agree.
Make sure you order the "Gruene" beans...
they are great!

We love visiting the Texas Hill Country
and were happy to find a new favorite!

  3. Hi Sonia, Thanks SO much for visiting my blog. Hope you come back often--and I'll return to yours. We are flower garden people too--and LOVE flowers. We grow Hybrid Tea and Grandiflora Roses and have about 57 different varieties in our yard... We have a rose named after you, Sonia... If you go back to my Monday blog this week, you will see it since I posted a bunch of roses after the rain.

I lived in Texas (near Houston) for 12 yrs.--and we loved going to the Hill Country. One of our favorite places was Chappell Hill and Brenham the first of April each year to check out the Bluebonnets and other wild flowers... Gruene is a neat place also..Glad you discovered it!!!!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  7. Gruene is a fun destination. They have market days the first Saturday of the month. Haven't been in years, but used to be a nice mix of vendors.

  8. Just beautiful. I always love the huge variety of vistas available when one visits Texas. We've been to New Braunfels, but missed Gruene. It will definitely go on my list when we stop there again. Thanks for taking us along on your journey. Cherry Kay
